About the event
Amarjeet Singh is renowned performer, tabla teacher, and artistic director of Naad Arts Society, having taught thousands of students from beginner to expert. In this workshop, he will run through the basics of Tabla-Taal (rhythm) and the importance of Taal in music and life.
For this occasion, Amarjeet will be accompanied by Kathak dancer Prajakta Trehan - owner and creative director of Nrityanjali Dance Academy. Through a Jugalbandi, Amarjeet and Prajakta will be demonstrating the different rhythmic patterns used in Indian music and dance.
The workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to deepen their appreciation of Indian classical, light, folk and fusion music and for anyone who would like to learn tabla or who is currently learning singing, an instrument or dance style.
Participants may bring their own tabla or simply be present and listen. Listening attentively to a tabla solo can be an extremely meditative experience so a meditative tabla solo will be included in the workshop.
